How can a friend of yours be rewarded for giving you a lift - without making them feel like a taxi driver?

When we were young, giving a mate some petrol money was the norm; now it's awkward or just not done but surely they deserve some credit?

What new mechanisms, products or services can you think of that might solve this problem?

We have bus stops and taxi ranks. How about a 'Lift Stop'? A designated area where people can wait for a lift during the peak hour commute. Anyone with an empty car can pull up at the stop and state their destination, see if anyone wants a lift and hopefully fill up the car. It might work initially as a local initiative and if it took off maybe nationally with an accompanying app to locate Lift Stops. As far as remuneration for the driver goes? We have ideas and opinions aplenty already, I...

could there be something where we incorprate the lifting.because dont many airports have rentals. so could the cars be parked there and not have the atrotios parking fees. or as weve spoken before about sharing. could it be a pick up point for car-sitters,lifters,sharers so there car is safe with someone else and not having to be totting up charges. just ideas flowing probably silly at 3am!!:S

i was thinking on previous challenges weve talked about how unfair the prices are for trying to leap up to first class. would this be an insenstive for anyone on a flight or train to give lifts.

i was thinking lots on how we are trying to make good for the things around us. but for people to the sharing could help couldnt it. if your new to the job.or to the adult world of working. new to the country etc then sharing a car to work could really  help. perhaps like reps. or getting people not used to working in.often more vunerable people sit at home and might not e able to breach the get up and go,but having that lift would make it easier maybe

I was thinking about the benefits of giving lifts not in terms of actual repayment but in terms of wellbeing which in itself can be rewarding. For drivers I know sometimes passengers can be a distraction but on the whole I think they would keep you more alert on routes where you attention can start to drift because it is such a familiar route. Have you ever experienced that situation when driving when you reach a point in the journey and can't specifically recall how you got there. I don't...

we are asking how we can organins sharing or paying money or in some way a cost to someone who has offered. but to get somenoe to work we will going to work somehow?so they are doing a major favour and it would almost be cheeky not to pay or reward them. so we would go on the bus, train car etc so how can we feel bad by giving something back to the person that offered us a lift? would it actually be really cheeky not to offer something back.becasue either way youd have to get to work.

you alsmot need some of template so that many people can adapt to what will then work for them be at paying, food, petrol etc. becasue there seems if you let someone have a choice whether you pay then people not horribly but will try and get out of certain things or just wont be able to do certain ones. could they have more than one option.so even in the same company individuals can cater for ones they can follow. also if you sign up to ones then you  must be fair and follow which ever...

a bit off topic but i wanted to share the lovely deed i saw last week by a chap who had boarded the bus and sat down when he saw a young couple get on, she paid and went to her seat but the boy's oyster was out of money and he was ordered off the bus, the girl would have had to get off too, despite having paid, as it was getting late and she didnt wnat to complete her jounrney alone, so the first chap gets up and pays the boys fare with his contactless card - the buses in london dont use...

Welcome to an even easier way to pay You can now pay your friends and family using just their mobile number. It means that you’ll never have to ask anyone for their current account number or sort code (providing they’ve done the sensible thing and registered too). So now, thanks to participating UK banks and building societies, it’s easy to pay someone back even while you’re on the go! I was doing some online research and found this. It looks like an easy way to pay friends...
