My car recently had to take a lil trip to the Garage :( therefore I had to take the bus to work each morning. I can take 3 different buses to the same location however they pick up from different stops, this is when I came across an app called "Bus Checker UK" now I can leave my house with peace of mind that I will make at least one of the buses.

When travelling to the UK we always have to stay overnight and that means we have to take our suitcases with us. Although suitcases can be easy to take with you, managing to travel with them can be a challenge and it gets very tiring having to take them on and off escalators and tubes etc. repeatedly throughout the day. Although most hotels will store your luggage before your night stay we have been to some that will not take them after the night stay and some that just won't take bags at...

im not sure whether they are just in france but this has been a major find for us,major travel hack of sorts. They would have been a place which we would have dismissed out of choice becasue we are snobs( i hate to admit it we like nice place to stay:(lol) but these have been a gem.we have nowhere to stay and this was our last option. now they do cater for shorts stays and you wont find luxury but for what you need.brilliant. they remind me of a ship and its cabins would be. they have...

often i find i have some(wrongly i know im a snob) assumptions of certian chain hotels. or certain hotel i see on holiday. but im finding more and more now that to keep in business EVERYONE is mostly upping there game to compete and get new ways of being a top seller. in france eg there are what they call b&bs which to them are boutique brilliance lol. and you have to give some of our chain hotels there given. sometimes a comfy bed is all you need and some of these have been brilliant.

When planning a journey always consider your level of activity and footwear. I have learned the hard way how important this is especially as I get older and my feet and body are not so hardy as they used to be. A prime example of this was when I attended a funeral in London a few years ago. The journey involved taking several tubes and a train. I had bought a pair of what I thought were comfortable wedged dressy sandals that I thought would be comfortable. How wrong could I be?! I had...

I was reminded of this one by Whizz's post on health apps. A European Health Insurance Card lets you get state healthcare in other EEA countries and Switzerland at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. This is a must for travelling in these countries. It does not replace travel insurance but if you forget to buy travel insurance then you could still get health treatment without paying a fortune. It could also cover you where exceptions in your travel insurance mean you are not covered. Some...

When you are going to do the same route on London Underground every day for a commute and during that commute you need to change trains it's worth spending some time checking out that connecting station. First of all... there may be more than one exit from the platform, and one of those exits may take you to your next connecting train faster than another (i.e. its shorter distance) You may find that if no one is walking down the entrance to the platform, it's actually quicker to go down...

I like to take loads with me.... I am one of those people who finds it hard to pack light! When my husband and I took my parents to a family wedding last year, we were going to be away a week, and needed to take normal luggage, plus wedding outfits, wedding presents and bedding and towels for our holiday cottage! How would we fit it into my parents Skoda Roomster! Its not a bad size car but even then we knew it would be tight! So, we tried packing as many things as we could into these...

Whilst I was courting the dear man who became my husband, many Friday evenings I had to take the Virgin Train to Birmingham and then go on to Kidderminster to meet him, and as I was coming from work, I needed to eat on the way. I discovered if I booked early enough, it was only £7.50 more to buy the first class train ticket to the standard ticket.... and the first class ticket included, use of the lounge at Euston and Birmingham, includes endless coffee and tea, crisps, snacks, and a small...

I love my oyster card, its capped fare saves me money, allows me to jump on and off of buses if need be and the emergency fare is a blessing when i run out of money as i can at least get home or get out one way!
